About This Special Issue
Globally we need health systems and models of care that are more responsive to individual needs (person-centred), focused on population health, and well integrated across all levels of the healthcare landscape--all with the vision of achieving the Quadruple Aim.
Consideration is needed to be made to appropriate innovative funding models and the promotion of value-based healthcare. These models also need to consider resource allocation and local approaches to deliver coordinated care that is as close as possible to where people live and are treated, and with a focus on prevention and improvement, rather than a one-size fits all approach.
This special issue aims to support the implementation of innovative person-centred models of care and improvement of health systems to achieve the Quadruple Aim.
With this in mind, a few key areas require attention and improvement:
- (1)Digital infrastructures and clinical systems and service delivery that are flexible and linked across all elements of a complex and evolving health care system;
- (2)Development of a healthcare workforce that can deliver care in the community drawing on multiple professionals’ skills in care teams and all working at the top of their scope.
- (3)Focus on value co-creation where individuals, families, and communities are empowered to partner in their health and healthcare and better self-care.
- (4)Embed a culture for continuous quality improvement.
